A Bit About Me-
Amy King was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, and has over 27 years of experience in the optical industry. She has dispensed eyeglasses and contacts in Texas, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Washington, and has a real passion for eyewear! Her own collection contains over 50 pair, and she can find the perfect pair for any face! She is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners and is a licensed dispensing optician for the state of Washington. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying adventures with her dog, Miruku, and her partner, Robert.
My Story
I started selling sunglasses in Hawaii, right after high school. I was hooked from day one- I loved being able to help people protect their eyes while also expressing their personality with a cool new accessory! I was soon recruited to work for a major corporate eyeglass chain, and my career as an optician began. I've been helping people find the perfect frames and lenses for their needs ever since, and it never gets old! I've worked for very high-end boutiques and for bargain optical chains, and I learned so much from every experience. I've been dreaming of opening my own optical boutique for many years, and my dream finally came true at the end of 2019! I opened my shop in the beautiful mountain town of North Bend, Washington, offering recycled and sustainable eyewear from companies that give back. I've always had a problem with the amount of plastic waste in this industry, and I wanted to do something to help. I am always learning more about sustainability, and I try to do everything I can to reduce, reuse, and recycle! In addition to offering recycled/sustainable eyewear, I also collect used contacts and contact supplies, old eyewear, old hearing aids, and many other things to recycle, and I donate a portion of my profits each month to plant trees.
